X-Chock Wheel Stabilizer

Effectively locks in your dual wheels to reduce sway while at site

Overview

The X-Chock is a stabilization device designed specifically for RVs, travel trailers, and tandem-axle trailers. It fits between dual (tandem) tires and, when expanded, applies opposing force to both tires, reducing side-to-side movement, shifting, and rocking. Unlike rigid chocks that brace against the ground, the X-Chock works with the tires’ natural tendency and effectively “locks in” the pneumatic suspension zone between dual wheels.

Its slim design allows it to fit in tighter wheel spacings, retracting down to about 1 3/8″ and extending out up to 10″ across the footpads.  It is coated with a rust-inhibitive finish and built from steel to handle outdoor use.

Key Features

  • Applies opposing pressure between dual tires to reduce tire shift and improve stabilization
  • Slim footprint: retracts to 1 3/8″ and expands to 10″ for wide spacing
  • Includes two X-Chock units plus a ratchet wrench with comfort bumper for adjustment
  • Rust-inhibitive (zinc or protective) coating for corrosion resistance
  • Lockable design (compatible with optional padlock, model 28015) for added security
  • Lifetime warranty provided by manufacturer

RV Use Cases

  • Stabilizing tandem-axle RVs or travel trailers at a campsite to reduce sway and movement
  • Preventing shifting of the wheels during usage of slide-outs, foot traffic, or internal movement
  • Providing support during inspections or servicing to reduce dynamic motion
  • Supplementing or replacing conventional wheel chocks (though not as a sole method of preventing roll)

Common User Feedback

Pros:

  • Many users report noticeably less sway or “rocking” between tires when deployed
  • Slim design makes it usable even in tighter wheel spacing setups
  • Durable construction and robust feel widely praised
  • Adjustability and included wrench make installation and removal relatively straightforward

Cons / Limitations:

  • It is not a replacement for primary wheel chocks—users frequently warn it should not be relied on to prevent rolling.
  • In extremely tight or misaligned wheel spacing, might be a tight fit or require specific orientation
  • Over time, threads or mechanical parts may require lubrication or maintenance
  • Some users say that if not perfectly centered, the force may be uneven

Best Practices

  1. Always use standard wheel chocks or braking systems in addition—X-Chock is a stabilizer, not a primary safety chock.
  2. Center the device as accurately as possible between the tires before expanding for best distribution of force.
  3. Extend gradually by ratcheting, feeling for snug contact—do not overtighten or force it beyond tire interface limits.
  4. After use, retract fully, clean off dirt or grit, and lubricate moving parts occasionally to keep threads smooth.
  5. Store inside or protected from prolonged moisture to reduce corrosion over time.

Inspector’s Note (RV Pro Solutions Insight)

The X-Chock is one of my go-to stabilizers for tandem-axle RVs because it works in harmony with dual tires rather than forcing rigid contact with the ground. I always caution customers that it’s a stabilization aid (not a substitute for primary chocks or parking brakes) but when used properly, it noticeably increases firmness and reduces lateral motion during normal campsite use. Ensure to read the manufacturer's instruction manual prior to use.
